 You are an engineer for a packaging company that needs to create boxes or cans for several types of products.  You have been given two jobs tocomplete before the end of the work day.

 

Job 1:  A local electronics factory that specializes in televisions would like to purchase boxes from your company.  You need to construct 20 boxes that can each hold a 32” television.  Your job is to research for the dimensions, calculate surface area, and produce a cost for the order.

 

 

  1. Visit BestBuy (Click on picture below) and find the following television system to be shipped. 

 

  1. Write down the dimensions of the television (Round to the nearest inch).

  1. You need to create a cardboard box that will fit the television.  You need to add 2” to each dimension to allow for shipping padding.

Job 2:  A local pizzeria would like to purchase boxes from you.  They need a total of 300 boxes that can hold pizza pies.  They only need Large pizza boxes.  You need to create pizza boxes to hold the pizza. 

 

 

1.   Visit the pizza shop online.  You need to locate the size of their pizzas (diameter) in inches and record the dimensions of the pizza.  Heights of each box will 2 inches no matter what box.

 

2.      Write down the dimensions of the pizza.  Height of the box will be 2 inches.

You need to create cardboard boxes that will fit the pizza.  You need to add 2” to each diameter to determine the new dimensions.
